Blog SEO Tips: Using Keywords for Blog Optimization
One of the most basic, yet highly effective things you need to consider when doing blog optimization is using keywords to indicate search engine spiders what your posts are about. The more relevant to the page’s content, the better the search engine ranking.
Keyword optimization is part of on-page SEO, which means that it is a part of the optimization you’ll make on your blog’s code.
What you should know right from the start is that keywords can give your blog posts a boost in rankings or get your blog out of the first and most important search results. It all comes down to how well you’re using them and how relevant they are to your content.
Rules of keyword optimization
Since you’re reading this, I have no doubt that you understand how important well-researched keywords are and that you’re willing to make better use of them. These are some of the most important things you need to consider:

For Blogsessive’s Loyal Readers
As you might have noticed, the past week was a bit more quiet on Blogsessive, but before I get to the reason behind that, let me tell you some things about me and Blogsessive.
For a blog, I always thought that there are a few critical steps that can shape its future. In my case, Blogsessive took these steps successfully.
- Blogsessive has passed the first three months of existence;
- Blogsessive has gathered over 100 RSS subscribers and Twitter followers;
- And most important, a wonderful community began to grow around this blog.
None of these steps would have been possible without you, Blogsessive’s loyal readers. For that, I sincerilly thank you!
As I’ve shared with you in a previous post, I believe that blogging’s biggest value resides in its education capabilities. So, during the past (almost) four months, I’ve learned many new things, along with you and from your comments.
Those of you that read the about page, know that I have a background in web design and development and what better way to repay you for all your help and loyalty than by putting those skills at work, as I’ve done when building this blog’s design from scratch.
Simple Balance WordPress Theme
Update: Simple Balance free WordPress theme has been released.
Soon (most probably this weekend), I’ll make available for download a free theme that I’ve worked on lately, called “Simple Balance”. There are still things that need more work at a coding level, but I can definitely give you a preview of the theme:

Again, thank you for visiting and being active on Blogsessive!

4th of July Special at Template Monster
The 4th of July is getting closer and the internet is already buzzing with the upcoming elections in the U.S. For every American, the 4th of July is a special day, a holiday of joy and to make this day even more special, Template Monster is launching a nice and fun lottery, available for everyone, American or not, member or not.
What’s the lottery about?
First of, it’s fun and does not require much from you; just a simple vote (it figures since elections are coming) for your favorite design out of two different website layouts, your name and email address.
The two layouts you’ll be voting on are politic and patriotic templates. The votes are open between 26th of June and the 9th of July. When the voting process is over, the winning design is declared and every one that voted for that specific layout becomes a participant in the lottery.
Did someone ask about the prizes?
Sure, there are prizes. Whether you’re a designer or a blogger you’ll definitely find the prizes worthy of your investment of 5 minutes:
- One Gift Certificate that will give you any template from their database for free.
- Two Discount Coupons for 80%.
- Three 50% Discount Coupons.
- Free Patriotic Iconset for everyone who votes during this lottery.

Also, for the duration of the lottery, all products within the Patriotic Templates category can be purchased with a 20% discount.
Sounds good, doesn’t it?
High quality website templates don’t come cheap and most contests in the blogosphere ask you for a kidney in exchange for a shot at winning one Premium Theme. Check out Template Monster’s offer of website templates (including WordPress themes) and see what you could get with a 100%, 80% or 50% discount only by casting a vote.

The Educational Value of Blogging
In the early stages, blogs were mostly online diaries sharing girlfriend/boyfriend gossips, personal photos and experiences. As times passed, blogging evolved into a mass phenomenon. The more people getting caught into this blogs galore, the more experiences shared by different personalities. New trends emerged, niche blogs appeared and blogging became what we see today, a hard to perfectly define, segmented concept of online information sharing.
Whether people perceive it as an alternative to classic forms of journalism, tools for self-help, an online job or the simple morning coffee reading, nowadays, blogging has a massive educational value.
Premises of educational blogging
By educational blogging I’m not only talking about edublogs – those blogs maintained by teachers or people involved in the educational system – but also about blogs that provide helpful information on different topics.

The Better Blogger, The Good Listener

When it comes to speaking, there are three types of people:
• those who speak so that other people can listen;
• those who speak only to hear their own voice;
• those who speak because they just can’t shut up.
If you want to be a better blogger, you’d definitely want to be in the first group.
But what does it take to be a good orator? You’d probably say it takes good communication skills, ability to adapt from audience to audience and a spontaneous character.
Some people have these skills written in their DNA, others train them. If you’re looking to speak or write better you should first consider listening and reading more and better.
“We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak”
Epictetus, Greek philosopher
Advantages of being a good listener
Why and how should listening improve our communication skills? First of all, by paying attention to our audience we can observe and analyze the level of interest, which would make it a lot easier to adapt from a situation to another. Therefore, a better blogger is a blogger who listens to his community is more likely to provide real answers and help to real questions. Solutions make people happy.

Blogosphere News / June 19th
Some interesting things have happened lately in the blogosphere and some related areas, such as social media. Here are some of them:
Reddit goes open source
Reddit announced that it’s going open source. This is certainly an unexpected but very smart move, coming pretty soon after the redesign. Hopefully, this would be a good chance for developer to put in practice what users have suggested for a while, but owners did not implement. Way to go!
SecondBrain in BETA 2
About two weeks ago I wrote a post about this new social bookmarking and networking service called SecondBrain. At that time, SB was in its late BETA 1 stage, getting ready for the BETA 2. They also held a contest where members could win a MacBook Air. BETA 2 has arrived with new features. One of them is file upload.
File upload and sharing features – each user will get 1GB file storage to start with, with a pay option for more storage in the future.
SecondBrain
Also, in a few days, the contest’s finalists are to be announced. If you’ve signed up with them, make sure you keep an eye on the results.
Publish, share and interact with uberVU.com
Developed by the Romanian team of Metromind, uberVU is a service that claims to help you regain control over everything you share in the online world. Sounds promising, but since the service is in a private BETA 2 stage, you’ll need to apply for an invite.
At least, you can take a look at uberVU’s Beta 2 screencast:
All In One SEO Pack finds new developer
The news tell that All In One SEO Pack found new developer, a person that goes by the nickname of hallofmontezuma, Michael Torbert, and who is also the developer of WP Security Scan and SMS Text Message plugins. So, after all, this plugin will still be around for some time. Hopefully, still providing high quality performance.
Blogsessive Debate: What makes us loyal readers?
Today I’m starting a little experiment in which I would love to include you, Blogsessive’s readers and subscribers. I’ve always said that experience is the best teacher, so lets share a bit of our experience and try to create useful topics and guides out of our knowledge.
Since this is a community debate, the topic I have in mind is:
What makes us loyal readers?
Is it the uniqueness of content, the author’s writing style, the design?
I’m looking forward to reading your answers in the comments section, after which, I’ll summarize the whole debate into one post that could make a useful guide for start-up bloggers and why not, even more experience blog owners.
