I agree the design is important. That is simply how human beings operate. Of course, the content needs to be solid - but if the design is sub par it makes the content seem less than it may really be. If it's a well done design, this will enhance viewers perception of the content. And that's important to all bloggers.

@Adrian: Since you are a talented designer you should try it when relaunching you new theme. I bet the conversion in your case would be excellent.

@stfalx: To generate lots of traffic from giveaways it's hard. You really have to give away something of top quality.

@SE7EV: Thanks! That's exactly what I was talking about, and thank you for confirming it. Btw, nice theme on you blog!

@Rob: You're welcome!

I found your blog by design, and love the content, so I subscribed.
(usually I open "beautiful web" only 3 secs)

Submitting site-s to css galleries is a good way of gaining traffic. Also giving something free and important, would generate traffic, only if other bloggers write about it. Nice article.

I had some traffic coming from a We Love WP, but I didn't submit to other CSS galleries yet. I'll be sure to do that after my redesign, especially now that I have some content. Anyway... my next traffic log will be very interesting.

P.S. Thanks for the Problogger link. I'll read that post in the morning, with a cup of coffee. ;)
