After signing up at Stumbled Upon months ago, I’ve never been back to the site to check it out again. But after reading this post, it looks like I’ll just stay away from it and avoid those so called “friends”.

A tip on the email checking. Create a shortcut or macro to get to your stumble inbox. just delete the emails you get and then hit the shortcut/bookmark – or even filter the emails to auto delete and check the inbox once a day out of habit.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. I’ve written about SU before and really concentrated on the concept of mutual respect. Treat your SU friends like you do friends in real life, with respect and most of them will help you out.

We must have the same “friend”. Even more bizarre when it’s a guy.

Because the deluge of requests I get, I have to be strict about what I thumb up, so in my profile, I explain that unless they send me stuff related to my tags, they get ignored…

Great post. How about writing one on Digg? The Digg-ers really annoy me with their shout spamming and whatnot. I get like 6-15 shouts per day, and half of them never Digg *my* shouts…
