I still don't have much traffic, as it's brand new, but the suggestions obviously made a lot of sense. In particular, I did #2 (kind of - used a theme from one of your theme posts), #3, and #4. Once I start having traffic and comments, I'll work on #6. I'm definitely open to comments about how I'm posting, which is to have the full post on the main page, rather than an excerpt. I'd add something though. I believe the design also depends on the area you're from. For ex. in countries like China and other Asian regions, most sites are very colorful and flashy, and they are so for a reason.
