I haven't updated on MNP Hoppal since May and I think Pete's last article was written in like December.

It really isn't so much a problem with passion for me. I do, indeed, love web design and I think marketing is incredibly fun to write/read/think about. I think the problem is more that I suffer burn-out. Even my personal "This is me complaining" blog gets updated sporadically.

Also, I write for a few of the "get paid to write" sites. I'll spend a week cranking out 50+ articles, spread out to two or three on all the blogs and other sites, and then decide to return to just blogging. Trouble is, I don't end up actually doing anything then.

So I either wear myself thin, or I do nothing. There is no "one a week" here. It ends up averaging out to three or so a month for most, but I never have the foresight to keep them in draft mode, so it's a post a day for three days and then a long dry spell.

Maybe I'm just not cut out for this.

It's all a matter of what your blog is about, your goals, and where your readers come from. I've found since decreasing frequency I gain more subscribers (they wanna see what I'll say next, whenever it may be, lol) - and I can go weeks without a new post and see no change in traffic, thanks to most of it being organic and not socially driven :)

The last line really sums it all up I guess. That's why I never really claimed to be an expert and authority in my blog so that people wouldn't expect to be that consistently. Its better to overachieve than to underachieve

I thought you would turn the blogging principle upside down. as a matter of fact you emphasized it in a very interesting way. that made me read the article until the end.
a very good strategy. thanks

Excellent take on the two most important things any successful blogger can do, and two of the hardest. Too many bloggers continue to be all over the place, perhaps this article will help them stay on topic.

I'm working on consistency too right now. It's a lot to do, but can be fun and will pay off.

I think you have good points. Quality is very important. You can't sacrifice quality for quantity. A blogger must be careful, however. He shouldn't refrain from posting, believing he has nothing of quality to say, before even attempting to produce. Not producing for awhile, believing that you have nothing to say can become an excuse for a blogger, and ultimately can become his downfall, especially if he doesn't post for several days or weeks. I've seen it. His readers simply stop returning. Both quality and quantity (consistency) are ideal!

Hey Alex,

This was very well thought out. Thanks for the tips on different areas in which we can practise consistency. I think quality is probably the most important, as you point out.
