Who Are You?

The last time I did this was back in May, when Blogsessive had ten times less subscribers and definitely less awareness. All this time, I’ve tried to write quality posts and give back to my community resources like the Simple Balance theme and the Feedsessive free RSS Icon set.

With each post, I put a small piece of me out to the world. Every reader can find out more about Blogsessive and me and I really love reading your emails, even it they are simply “Hello” emails or in need of advice.

The downside of it is that while concentrating on delivering quality through my actions and posts, I did not get to know more about you, the readers of Blogsessive. And I mean YOU. Who are you, are you a blogger? What do you blog about? What do you do for a living? Even personal stuff that you want to share. Feel free to ask questions, I’ll be happy to answer.

As I’ve said about a million times: my full respect and attention goes to my community, and a community is made out of real people, people just like you, the one reading this lines. So, give me 2 minutes of your life and let’s sit back to a friendly talk.

PS: First time commentator? Don’t be shy, join in! That’s how we become friends!

  • Hi Alex,

I’m Ryan, long-time reader of blogssessive and a typo finder :)

“I did not get to no more about you” (!!) replace “no” with “known”.

    keep it up.

  • Hello Ryan and thanks for the heads up. Does 01:00 AM provide an excuse for it? :)

Glad to have you on board and hope to hear more from you!

  • Alex,

I work in Internet marketing consulting (Adwords, analytics etc.). I’m planning to start a blog for small business owners and Blogsessive has been a great resource in my planning.

    Thanks!

    - Tim

  • Hi Alex,

My name is Paul Marculescu, I’m originally from Romania, now living in Stockholm and working on a startup called Teamness.

Your blog is a good source of inspiration and it’s obvious that you put a lot of work on it to make it look and behave the way it does.

For me it’s refreshing to come onto blogs like this once in a while. It’s people like you who make a difference in the blogging world by raising the standards.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Hi Alex, I’m Alex.

I’ve been reading this blog since October. Besides reading this blog, I do other stuff online like design in Photoshop, code XHTML/CSS, practice jQuery, and I blog of course.

Offline, I like to play football, work out at the gym and go camping.

That’s probably the most effort I’ve put into an introduction. Ever.

    Cool idea.

  • Hi Alex,

This is my first comment in your blog. I have been reading all your posts through feeds. You write very well. Hope you continue the good streak. As far me, I’m studying to be a Chartered Accountant. I’m based in Mysore, India.

  • Hey Alex,
Great idea, I own a one man (me) onsite computer service business and recently decided that I wanted to make money online. Been doing a great deal of research and that how I came across your blog. Don’t know if I’ll make money anytime soon but I’m having fun learning the ropes. As they say enjoy what you’re doing and the money will follow. We’ll see.

  • Bonjour Alex,

  • Hey Alex,
Great way to get comments! :)
I am a fence contractor, I blog about fence (for business)and am starting a new site to help other contractors get involved in blogging for the sake of community.

After only 3mos after I changed from a static site to self hosted WP my site ranks front page on 16 keywords and gets me more traffic than PPC ever did!

Enjoy reading your blog and am glad the feed comes as a full article ( I just cleaned out all the ones that come as excerpts)

  • Alex,

Thanks for the invitation–nice idea. I’ve been enjoying your posts and follow you on Twitter.

I’m with a nonprofit yoga and meditation center, and thinking about starting a blog for us as a way to create more connections within our community. (And thinking about writing one for myself as practice.) Seeing the quality of what’s out there already is a bit intimidating.

Glad to be part of your circle.

    Michelle

  • Alex,

I subscribed to your blog feed about 3 weeks ago and have been enjoying reading it. I started blogging fairly regularly myself only about 3 months ago.

I’ve been consulting with business owners for over 30 years. I’m getting ready to launch the Business Startup Success Club, to help folks implement simple systems and procedures to manage their finances and tax obligations and take care of all the back-office (admin) stuff so they don’t have to worry about it and they can concentrate on the reason they went into business in the first place.

I appreciate the opportunity you provided to let newbie bloggers like me introduce
    themselves.

Pleased to make your acquaintance. Let me know if there’s any way I can help you.

    Best,

    Sheryl

  • OK Alex, do I still need to introduce myself? ;)

    Yan

PS: I’m having a hard time trying to keep track of the response here. Are you planning to allow the option of “Subscribe to Comments”?

  • Hi, I am Nihar. This is my first comment in this blog. I have come to your blog from Yan’s blog.

  • Hi!
    I am Farrhad, a 14-year old blogger :)
I just kicked off with my blog (I had 2 websites before this)
    Cheers!

  • Hello everybody and nice to meet you all! Thank you all for stopping by and introducing yourselves. What a surprise to wake up this morning to so many new commentators!

Tim, you’re welcome and please, let us know when you launch your blog. Should be an interesting resource!

Paul Marculescu, thank you for your kind words! And thank you for your comment that allowed me to discover your tool (Teamness). I’m going to give this a closer look! Stockholm, you say. The home of the infamous “Ghost Rider” (not the Marvel version – Don’t try this at home). :)

Alex Fraiser, it’s nice to meet people with the same interests. Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself!

Vishwas Krishna, I’m glad you decided to comment for the first time and identify yourself as part of this community. Welcome to Blogsessive, officially! Good luck with your studies!

Luca, that saying is right, at least if doubled by passion and aptitudes, but I have confidence that you have the right ones! As you can see, I’ve never preached the “make money online” concept on Blogsessive, as I too believe that with quality, money will follow. That’s what I’m trying to “teach” my readers.

Vanae, what an interesting and resourceful blog you have. Thanks for introducing yourself and your activity! One can see from your videos how much passion you put into your work!

Keith, I’m glad that blogging has helped you build a better business. Many people are still to discover its benefits that way. People like you, living testimonial can help spread the love and word!

PS: I was not looking for comments, but rather for the people behind them. ;)

Michelle Lawson, if you want to start a blog, just do it! There’s nothing to be intimidated by. When I started Blogsessive and joined the “blogging/blog tips niche” I faced a very fierce “competition”: Darren Rowse, Chris Garret, Daniel Scocco, Lorelle VanFossen and many other talented bloggers. The secret is look at them as inspiration and motivation, not as competition. The internet is big enough for all of us!

Sheryl Schuff, a “newbie” with more than 30 years of experience? Sheryl, I’m sure that BSSC is going to be a smashing hit! Thanks for being part of this community and hope to get more of your insight in the future.

Yan, we got to find out a few things about each other lately, but it would be great if you introduce yourself to the rest of Blogsessive’s readers. After all, you active in the same niche as me. People might be interested in finding out more about what you do. :)

Nihal, welcome to Blogsessive. And for the part where you say you come from Yan’s blog, that’s the beauty of networking with other bloggers!

Farrhad, welcome to Blogsessive. What a wonderful age to start investing in a passion! All the best, friend!

Welcome everyone, is great to have you here! Part of you I’ve met on Twitter, but in the rush that tweets come out is hard to keep up and really find more about you.

Thank you, again, for taking a couple of moments of your precious time to introduce yourselves to me and this community.

It’s great to have you all on board and don’t forget about the contact form whenever you feel like chatting or looking for a word of advice!

  • Hi Alex,

I have been following your blog usind your RSS feed and this is the first time I am posting a comment on your blog.

I am multidisciplinary designer from India and currently focusing on Digital Solutions.

Keep up the good work with your high quality posts.

    Kudos !

  • Hi Alex,

My name is Craig Farrall, I am a youthful website designer, who has his own freelance company called http://www.cfdesignz.co.uk

I have been following your blog for a while now, and as you are aware I come in now and again to drop by with a comment.

Just want to say keep up the good work man.
    Craig

  • Hi Alex,
I am Ulla from Berlin, Germany. I’ve subscribed to your feed for quite some time. My first language is German, but since July this year I am blogging in English.
Keep up doing the good work!
    Ulla

  • Hi Alex,

01:00 AM is a good excuse. The typos are invisible taking in consideration the quality of your content :)

  • Hi Alex,

I’m Steve, we’ve been in touch over twitter before, but I’ve been following your feed since you released Simple Balance 1. It’s opened up a lot of blogging tips resources to me and I follow a few more now too such as Darren Rowse and more.
Just recently started a web design course so my mind is jumbled full of code at the moment, but it’s fun and one day maybe I’ll design mt own theme!
Thanks again, Alex, keep up the good work!

  • Just discovered your blog today via Social Median. Spent quite some time browsing around. I’ve added you to Feed Demon — look forward to following you.

Yes, I blog too. I set up my blog 23 months ago for writers who seek to be more productive. I’m up to about 500 RSS subscribers and get about 5000 unique visitors a month. Still, I have much to learn and many improvements yet to make to my blog. I can already see that some of your articles will be helpful.

  • Sumit, I’m glad you decided to post your first comment, and hopefully, whenever I’ll get into “design & development” topics, you’ll add you own insight. The more things we cover, the better. Good to have you on board!

Craig, hello! We’ve been following each other for some time now. :) It’s good you decided to introduce yourself to the community. How’s the blog redesign going?

Ulla Hennig, I believe we “bumped” into each other a couple of times, either here, on Twitter or on some other blogs’ comments section. Either way, delighted to have you on Blogsessive.

It’s not the easiest thing adjusting to blogging in another language (I’m Romanian, so English is not a native language for me either), but with passion and a lot of reading, we can do it well.

Ryan Your too kind, my friend! Thank you!

Steve, this means we go back quite a few months. :) Good luck with the WD course. If you have any questions, you know how to get in touch.

Tom Colvin, welcome to Blogsessive. I’m thrilled that this blog has left you with such a good impression from the first visit. Looking forward to reading the comments of a pro-blogger/writer.

Welcome everyone and thanks for introducing yourselves!

PS: You could also sign you comments with your Twitter profile so that we can follow each other.

  • Hi Alex and everyone! I’m a passionate blogger, mostly covering PR, marketing and travel, avid Blogsessive reader and generally big fan of whatever Alex is working on and guest blogger over here from time to time. Oh, and currently blogless, as due to my ongoing transfer my main blog and my Travel Spells blog (http://travel.mirror-communications.com) show some pretty GoDaddy ads :(

Hoping to be reunited with my blog asap, wish you all happy blogging :)

    Alina

  • Hi Alex, Larry M. here,This is my first time here, found you through Yan’s post at smallbee’s. I am from the southeastern U.S. I run a blog along with several other websites.
Great website. I will be back!

  • Hi Alex,
Thanks for the wishes. To tell you the truth, last line of your post spurred me to comment for the first time.

  • Hi there, Alex. I just discovered your blog about a month ago and have made it a daily stop.

I just started out blogging professionally, so I’m looking to form some business relations / networks / friendships with those who are also new at blogging as a profession.

With that said, feel free to stop by my Geek Entrepreneur site (www.geekentrepreneur.net) and drop me a line if you like. Thanks in advance. Cheers!

  • Hi Alex,

Nice concern about your readers. I am a freelancer working from hyderabad, India.

You can catch me at http://www.brandpirate.com.

  • Hi Alex, I hesitate a lot before posting my first comment here. Don’t ask me why. Well like Tom, I found your blog via social median, I then read some of your posts and decided to subscribe to your RSS. I tried few times to start my blog but each time it was a failure maybe the next one will be the right one. So I am looking for inspiration :-)
Btw I love your blog’s design

  • Hey Alex,

Great post idea! Love seeing who else is reading the site, and getting to know the Blogsessive community a little better!

I’ve been writing a ‘lifestyle’ blog for a few years now: http://www.didntyouhear.com/ and have just started an advertising blog at http://thefutureofads.com/

However, even after years of blogging, I’m still always on the search for new tips and tricks, and I’ve found your site to be a great source of them! Love the site design, and have been a happy subscriber since day one of discovering your site. Keep up the great work, and I can’t wait to see what’s coming down the Blogsessive pipeline!

  • Hey Alex,
I’m Corey, blogger for fun (mostly) and designer by trade at http://www.deadlyclever.com. I just kind of stumbled into your blog but I love it, so, sweet deal. I’ve got two blogs, Diligent Design and my personal one at http://www.supersophomore.com. Diligent’s slowly growing, so, hopefully your tips will get me over that edge. ;)

Primarily and forthwidth I’m a total musical geek. I play trumpet, love alternative rock, and I hate when people finish songs on leading tones. I also love parentheses (as readers of, well, anything I write will know).

G’luck with your blog and have a great day!

  • Alina, as if it were not understood, it’s great to have you around!

Larry, welcome to Blogsessive and looking forward to reading more of your opinions. Yan’s post was definitely a good one!

Vishwas Krishna, to be true, that line was added after publishing. And, I’m glad I did so, because clearly, it made some people, as you, come and introduce themselves. I’m glad you did so.

The Geek Entrepreneur, Wesley, your blog seems quite promising. I’ll contact you via email later and discuss more about it. Thanks for stopping by!

Chaitanya Welcome to Blogsessive and looking forward to your “Identity Love” blog launch. Keep me posted.

nabil, I’m glad you decided to comment and that the content here made you subscribe. Hopefully, these posts will help you finally find that right timing and style to start a new, outstanding blog!

Cory O’Brien, I too enjoy the way the comments were posted. I love the fact that now I really know how’s out there reading the feeds, favoring posts on social media and so on. I would definitely love it more if people would provide even more feedback on posts or via email so that we can really turn this into a better resource. But I know that feedback requires time, and not everyone has that time.

Considering the experience that some of my readers (like you) have, it would be a great way to even learn from each other.

Corey Freeman, welcome and thanks for the links. :) As for the tips, the most important things are “focus” and “patience”. I’m sure you’ll get there, over that edge.

You know I’m a music fan too? Here’s something about me that’s not written in the about page, but my Twitter followers might know:
    1. I love motorcycles and ride about 2 hours a day a Honda CBR 600 F4. It’s the best relaxation method I could find.
    2. I love rap music and also act as an MC and producer in a Romanian group called KaTaNa.

Now, creative things mix well together and might just add that extra spark needed to shine. It’s a good combination.

  • Hello, my name is Eugen and I write in Romanian a blog about everything wordpress.

As English is not my native language and do not speak it very well I usually do not comment around here. But I read every post, there are a lot to be learned yet! Although I am not using it anymore, it’s a little too narrow for my needs now, thanks a lot for Simple Balance wordpress theme!

    All the best.

  • Wow, what a nice amount of comments. :) I should try this at my blog. I comment pretty often here but we are doing introductions anyway…

I am Rarst. I am doing “generic IT stuff” for a living and had started tech blog under “cynical thoughts” tagline as hobby few months ago. I spend my time at computer, other Internet-capable devices or totally offline socializing with people on my few non-computer interests (mostly books and anime).

  • Greetings Alex,

I am a web programmer operating out of Louisville, KY (but happy to work with clients from all over :) ), and I just happened upon your blog (and Twitters) tonight when looking up talk about an e-commerce plugin for WordPress. Great work! And I look forward to following your blog through Google Reader.

I work on websites of various kinds, but in recent months I have been digging a lot more into blog development and exploring how WordPress can be used in re-implementing static websites, but with a blog (obviously) and plugins for e-commerce and other kinds of functionality.

Just from browsing a few of your posts, I can tell you are putting a lot of work and thought into this blog. I actually feel excited about what I am going to learn from you (and possibly even give back in comments ultimately).

    Cheers!
